BIXology: Celebrating the Music of Bix Beiderbecke

Skyler Hagner is a multi-instrumentalist and composer living in Inwood NYC. He is active on the NYC jazz scene performing or arranging for Kurt Rosenwinkel, Joe Block, Michael Feinstein, Tito Puente Jr, and Donn Trenner, among others. An active educator, he is currently the director of Penn Jazz in Philadelphia, and the assistant musical director of HONKNYC, and previously was the adjunct professor of woodwinds at the University of New Haven. His work has been supported by LMCC’s Creative Engagement Grants, Jazz Road Tours Grant, a national initiative of South Arts, the Guilford Performing Arts Festival through their artist awards program, Pathways to Jazz and The New England Musicians Relief Fund.

Dawn Drake's ZapOte

Dawn Drake is an active musician in NYC’s eclectic music scene. She is a percussionist, bass player, singer and composer/songwriter who leads the band ZapOte, a “Tropical Pop” ensemble which breaks down cultural barriers  incorporating everything from Mountain Funk to Cuban Timba and Brazilian samba into a soul-shaking mix with her original lyrics that focus on love, empathy, environmental, economic, racial, gender and social justice themes and above all: unity.
